Join Us for the 2nd Annual Kīpahulu Makahiki – Nov. 21st 2026
This event is for residents of Kahikinui, Kaupō, Kīpahulu, Hāna, and Koʻolau.
Mahalo nui to everyone who helped make our first Kīpahulu Makahiki such a meaningful and memorable celebration. From the community ʻimu and potluck to the traditional Makahiki games, music, cultural demonstrations, and shared fellowship, the day reflected the strength of our community and our commitment to perpetuating Hawaiian traditions.
We are excited to announce the 2nd Annual Kīpahulu Makahiki for 2026!
Once again, we will gather to honor the rising of Makaliʻi (the Pleiades), the celestial marker that signals the beginning of our Makahiki season, and to celebrate the values of peace, aloha, and healthy competition.
This years theme is Hoʻomaha, Hoʻoulu, Hoʻomau!
Strengthening Cultural Identity
Through our ahupuaʻa-based projects and environmental stewardship efforts, we are able to showcase seasonal harvests and traditional food systems by preparing locally sourced foods for the event, strengthening community relationships while sharing a rich Hawaiian cultural menu.
